Albert Einstein Academy
Brightening the four main stairway landings at Albert Einstein Academy, this mural celebrates four unique neighborhoods surrounding the school.
Adjacent to the school is Barrio Logan- a neighborhood known for its vibrant Mexican and Mexican American culture. A young tiger student is seen skateboarding under a soaring peace dove and string of papel de picado. He stops at the local fruteria for a snack before heading home.
Another neighboring community, North Park, is known for its abundance of coffee shops. Nearby, dogs run wild at the popular Grape Street dog park.
Downtown is illustrated with an incoming plane and the city’s skyline. A native San Diegan hummingbird hovers in the foreground, surrounded by California’s state flower the poppy.
Throughout the panels, a Monarch caterpillar, cocoon, and butterflies can be found. They are a nod to the growth of each student that attends Albert Einstein, as well as a celebration of the many immigrants that call San Diego home.
