Farm Animal Refuge
Farm Animal Refuge is an agricultural animal rescue located in Campo, CA that provides forever homes for abused, neglected and unwanted farm animals. Over 90 residents call FAR home, including pigs, goats, cows, sheep, chickens and turkeys.
After two years of working as a volunteer, the founders approached me with the idea of painting a mural on a large corrugated wall facing the goat’s enclosure in an effort to brighten the otherwise brown space, and provide a photo op for guests visiting the refuge. As someone who loves animals and art more than anything, I couldn’t have been more excited and honored to donate my time and expertise for this project.
The mural design features several of FAR’s beloved residents as well as one of their catch phrases “Be Nice to Animals”. From left to right the animals depicted are Kyle, Winston, Blueberry, Cashew, and Gracie. This piece was a true labor of love, with many volunteer and community members pitching in to help paint, and animals readily providing emotional support cuddles on long days.
As a vegan of 11 years, and a life long animal lover, this project holds a special place in my heart. To learn more about Farm Animal Refuge, follow them on instagram at @farmanimalrefuge or visit them at www.farmanimalrefuge.org to donate, book a tour, or learn more about the animals in their care.
