Backyard Oasis

When my client and dear friend Gina reached out with a vision to turn her very dry, brown Arizona backyard into a tropical oasis, I couldn’t have been more excited. This project is truly a testament to the power that murals possess to transform a space, not only aesthetically but energetically. I have witnessed first hand the ability that color has to positively impact the lens through which we view life; increasing our joy, motivation, and overall mental health and it is the driving force behind my work as a muralist.

With an abundance of creative freedom, and a long weekend to complete this piece, I began free-handing various plants and animals onto the beige cinderblock wall. Working without a design or projector was liberating, and allowed for an effortless, organic flow of imagery to take shape. The mural came together with a vibrant palette and rich, deep background, infusing their space with new life and giving Gina and her family a one of a kind retreat from the chaos of life.
